Between October and now there have been 3 posts on this page. And there are a few reasons for that:
– I was planning a wedding
– My job shifted gears and my workload increased
– I had other projects that needed my focus
– BURNOUT
That last point might be the biggest factor. I have been battling some major burnout for almost a year now, and posting anything here just kinda felt like a chore. And it’s not supposed to feel like that. I started The Small Town Tourist out of a place of love and inspiration. I truly love small towns, exploring, and sharing stories. But on top of my real jobs, this just felt like more work.
I’m trying my best to power through this burnout, and recharge as best I can. I’m trying to find that “spark” again. But I know I need to find the balance as well between making content as a job and making content that feeds my creative side. It’s a gray area where the two sides blend, and it’s tricky to get to, but I know it exists because I have been in that space before. After all, that’s the space where this page began.
Thanks for taking the time to read. And thank you for being here with me. This is usually where creators tell you “be ready for more soon.” I’m not going to make a promise I can’t keep. What I will say is this: take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
