This Bar in a Town of Only 67 People Serves Up a Mean Burger

In mid-May my husband and I had to go out to Solon Springs, Wisconsin to be in our friend’s wedding. It was a 3+ hour drive to the venue, and we needed a good lunch before we made the drive. My husband was piloting that day and said, “I know the perfect place, we can stop at GoodFella’s in Ronneby on the way out!”

He is a road construction worker and spent a lot of time paving in the Gilman/Foley/Ronneby and this was a place his crew would grab a bite if time allowed. I had never been there before, but my husband has a talent for seeking out good food and I trusted him completely.

We rolled up to the unassuming building around 12:30 pm, right in the middle of lunch and the place was busy. Like so busy we parked on the side of the road and not the parking lot. The lunch crowd must almost double the town population every day because my husband said it is always like this.

We got in, found a table, and were greeted by a super nice waitress/bartender hustling her butt off taking orders and running food. The place was a well-oiled machine because we didn’t wait long for our drinks or our food.

I had the Hawaiian Burger, topped with ham and grilled pineapple, and a side of sweet potato fries. It was heavenly, my burger was done perfectly and the sweet grilled pineapple complimented the savory burger in the best way. I’m a sucker for anything with grilled pineapple on it because usually, it can mask something else on the plate that isn’t cooked well. But this burger was perfect down to the last bite. Plus GoodFella’s keeps Heinz 57 sauce on the table along with ketchup and mustard and sweet potato fries in 57 is a killer combo. More bars should put Heinz 57 on tables.

Overall this was a great way to start our mini road trip to Wisconsin, and it’s nice to know that it is just a short drive from our house to go back again and dig deeper into their menu. Who knew the best food on our trip would be in our own neck of the woods?!
