Paranormal Seance Experience Coming to Long Prairie on Halloween Night

Growing up in Long Prairie I was always fascinated with the Christie Home on Central Avenue. This large yellow structure was built in 1901 for $5,000 for the Christie family, and today serves as a museum for the Christie Home Historical Society.

Dr. George R. Christie came to Long Prairie to practice medicine in 1884 at the request of his friend Dr. Edwin Lewis, of Sauk Centre (Sinclair Lewis’ father) and he and his wife Susan had four children. Susan is credited with establishing the Long Prairie Literary Society in 1893, which is still an active society today. After Susan passed away in 1910, Dr. Christie married Ida Lewis Mason in 1911, who helped establish the first public library in Long Prairie.

This year, the historical society tapped the shoulder of the Minnesota Paranormal Research Society in order to help with fundraising efforts. The unfortunate reality of life is that 122-year-old homes need expensive repairs, and luckily the MPRS was more than happy to get involved. They hosted their first event (a paranormal tour of the premises) in September of 2023 where they caught some compelling evidence, including what appears to be the apparition of a head claiming a flight of stairs. And coming up on Halloween night, they will be holding two seance experiences at the Christie Home.

This seance will be hosted by Heidi Steffens and Tim Donahue of My Spirit Experience. There will be two times it is taking place, 6:30 pm and 9 pm. Contact with the other side isn’t a guarantee, and you never know what will happen which is all part of the fun. Tickets are $100 a person and you need to dress to impress the spirits with your period attire! There will be a door prize for the best costume at each session!  (This means no jeans. It is Halloween after all!)
