This time last year I was neck-deep in wedding planning. My husband Cory and I got married April 2nd, 2022 at LeBlanc’s Rice Creek in Little Falls. Rewind even further to when we were telling our friends and family where we were getting hitched, and Cory’s cousin Tyler’s main concern was if he could go to Pierz, MN the morning of the wedding to get pickles.
I wasn’t quite sure how to answer that question, because I didn’t have a clue what he was talking about.
Turns out the Red Rooster Bar & Grill in Pierz is home to some of the best horseradish pickles you will ever have.
The morning of our wedding, I was sitting in a chair getting my hair done, as a bride does, and up from behind me comes my cousin-in-law to be asking if I wanted a pickle. Of course, I said yes. I needed to see what all the hype was about. And it was a super good pickle.
Fast forward a year and I finally made it to the Red Rooster myself. Cory and I went to the bar with our friends to get lunch on a Sunday and stock up on pickles.
When we walked into the Red Rooster we were greeted with the usual things you’d find in a small town bar. Promotional beer brand items, holiday decorations that have been up too long, and an inviting feeling. Just like home for me (especially the holiday decor part.)
We had a fantastic lunch as they played the local radio station over the speakers, and before we left we picked up a jar of our favorite pickles. There’s nothing quite like grocery shopping at the bar.
